The ETESIAS approach is expected to facilitate the production of curved elements with variable cross-section, with respect to the common concrete casting process, and to reduce drastically the amount of concrete needed for the fabrication of RC elements as it allows the beam to be partially hollow while still guaranteeing adequate mechanical performances. This represents an enormous advantage in terms of economic and environmental impacts.


Advantages of the ETESIAS technology

This innovative technology allows to achieve the following objectives:

  • • An increase of almost 70% of productivity with respect to the classical concrete casting technology, pollution reduction of almost 50% and a lower waste production (30%) as this technology allows to optimise the internal shape of the concrete segments saving a huge amount of material and without using any formwork system;
  • • Reduction of the amount of concrete of almost 50% while still guaranteeing adequate mechanical performances and a lower energy consumption (of almost 30%) as this technology allows to have a management control of the whole production process;
  • • A greater architectural freedom in terms of design of the forms and shapes of the elements without incurring excessive costs.

Furthermore the control of the whole design-to-product process allows to use smart devices for the structural monitoring in the production phase or for information exchanging within an infrastructural network.
